Most accommodations
has a fixed term tenure e.g. 6-monthly or yearly lease. More often, the
landlord will demand an advance payment or deposit to cover for 3 months or
more. There are also some landlords who are willing to let out rooms for rent
at monthly advance payment. This is entirely up for both parties to negotiate
or through a service agent recommended by ISC Education Centre.
It would be wise for the students to seek assistance from the School’s Service
Staff for guidance on the choice, type of accommodation, charges and other
service requirements before setting out to do their own private arrangement
since there are contractual obligations involved.

ACCOMODATIONS
There are number of student hostels in Singapore that offer student
accommodation at modest rates. Depending on the requirements of students, some
of these hostels may offer laundry, meal, and other optional service. Students
can also login to the Internet to find details about such accommodations.
The hostels chargebetween $350 to $550, on a twin-sharing
basis. This will depend on whether they require laundry service and meal
(lunch, or dinner or both). The wider the range of services provided, the
greater the charge. The rates may be 15-20% cheaper if more students share the
room e.g. 3 or 4 to a room. It will be more affordable, if they are used to
dormitory living (sometimes up to 10 students per large room). But this may be
at the expense of individual comfort since some may not be accustomed to having
too many students around while they are studying. All these factors would have
to be considered in deciding accommodation options.
Other options include renting Housing & Development Board (HDB)
accommodations between S$600 – S$800 on twin sharing room depending on
locality, size, transport convenience and proximity to food centres and other
amenities. For private apartments and condominiums, the rental may be much more
according to size, location and provision of optional services e.g. meals,
laundry which is charged separately.
