Overview
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) prepares student to achieve IELTS 6.0 and above to meet most University’s English language entry requirement for Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree and Postgraduate level qualifications.

Level 1 – Beginner (120 Hours / 2 Months)
A course designed for both real and false beginners of English language

Level 2 – Elementary (150 Hours/ 2.5 Months)
A course pitches at the same level as the Cambridge KET Exam (Key English Test)

Level 3 – Pre-Intermediate (150 Hours/ 2.5 Months)
A course pitches at the same level as the Cambridge PET Exam (Preliminary English Test)

Level 4 – Intermediate (150 Hours/ 2.5 Months)
A course pitches at the same level as the Cambridge FCE Exam (First Certificate of English)

Level 5 – Upper-Intermediate (150 Hours/ 2.5 Months)
A course pitches at the Lower level of the Cambridge CAE Exam (Certificate of Advanced English)

IELTS Test Preparation
Awards by ISC Education Centre, Singapore

The IELTS Test is an internationally recognised English proficiency test, which is widely accepted by many universities and colleges for entry into first degree programs. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System which is administered by the British Council and RELC in Singapore. In this Test Preparation course, you will learn effective test-taking tips and polish up your Grammar, Vocabulary which can help you in your Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing modules.

Students taking this test preparation course are expected to have at least an Intermediate or Upper Intermediate level of English proficiency (Examples: Students who have previously obtained IELTS Band 4.0, TOEFL Score 550, PRC CET Level 4, or Singapore Secondary 3 Standard).

Learning Outcomes
On course completion, students will be able to handle listening and reading comprehension passages better. They will be more skilful in managing the listening and reading tests and gain better results. At the same time, they will have beefed up their speaking and writing skills which enable them to produce their own sentences fluently and confidently. There will be a distinct difference in the way they speak and write after this test preparation.

Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
Dual Awards by London Teacher Training College and EDI-ASET (UK)
Equivalent to National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level: 5 (UK)

Overview
The Diploma in TESOL is specifically targeted at those who are interested in teaching English as a second or foreign language. The Diploma in TESOL is also accredited by EDI-ASET which is fully recognised in the U.K by the Department for Education and Skills (DfEs), Learning Skills Council (LSC) and the Qualification & Curriculum Authority (QCA). ASET is specialised in providing, quality-assuring and certificating vocational learning programmes. This course awards credits towards the Master of Science in Education (TEFL) by Nova Southeastern University, USA.

Entry Requirements

International Students:
First Degree or equivalent qualifications
English IELTS 6.5
Minimum 2 years of teaching experiences.

Singapore Students:
The pre-requisites for this programme are a least 2 years of working experience plus GCE 'O' Level credit in English or its equivalent (e.g. IELTS 6.5 or Cambridge CAE - Certificate in Advanced English). Those without any of these mentioned qualifications will be assessed and approved on a case-by-case basis by the ISC Academic Board or the School Principal.

Specialist Certificate in Teaching Phonics & Phonetics
(Validated Award by the London Teacher Training College, UK)

The Phonics approach is a popular method used as part of teaching reading to preschoolers, and has been linked to successful reading skills in young children. Through systematic, practical hands-on sessions, this course will focus on:

- The understanding of the principles, terms and concepts of phonics and
- The use of phonics as a teaching strategy to support the learning of young students.

The 27-hour course will also introduce phonetics and provide experience for participants to develop a greater understanding of articulation and intonation of words based on Standard English pronunciation. The course aims to develop the participants to become successful and confident English Language teachers through:

- The introduction of phonetic symbols (IPA)
- Syllable and Word stress
- Identification of commonly mispronounced words

Admission Requirement
Possess at least one of the following qualifications:
Minimum a Credit in GCE ‘O’ level English, IELTS 6.5, the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), Certificate in Preschool/ Early Childhood Education or equivalent.

Award of Certificate
The London Teacher Training College, UK, Validated Certificate in Teaching Phonics & Phonetics will be awarded to participants who have successfully completed all course projects/ assignments and fulfilled at least 75% of class attendance.
